Summer at the Studio

Happy Summer! 

Wendy, Ben, Darnelle and Mabel at the Eastside Fitness "home away from home". We spend a lot of time at Memorial Park in the summer.

We know you can’t tell from the weather but summer is here.  (We are only aware of it because our kids are out of school.)    Even though we know you will be camping, visiting family, beach combing, exploring, cycling, hiking and all sorts of other fun outdoor activities over the next few weeks, we wanted to maintain our full schedule of classes.  Not only because we’ll miss seeing your beautiful, smiling faces but because it is really important to maintain your fitness over the holidays!   No excuses!

In addition to the regular drop in classes which include various yoga, strength and conditioning classes, early morning FitCamps and all the other usual menu items, we are also offering a few special classes and programs.

Wow! Weightloss  A 10 week weight loss support group led by a registered holistic nutritionist.  The program focuses on eating whole foods, education, exercise and support.  The group will meet at the studio on Thursday evenings at 6pm.  First meeting on July 19th.  Check out Zest Family Nutrition http://www.zestfamilynutrition.com/ for details.

Yoga for Beginners Workshop – Everything you wanted to know about yoga but were afraid to ask!

This workshop is designed for new students and students starting back to yoga after a long time off. Learn the basics of yoga postures and breathing techniques.  Learn why yoga is an excellent exercise and what the different styles of yoga have to offer.  This workshop will help to ensure you have the fundamental skills to build on when starting a yoga practice and will help you understand what to expect from each class.

When:  Sunday July 15th 11am-1pm

Family Yoga –  Bring your kids, teens, out of town guests!  Suitable for everyone ages 5 to 105….This class is part of our drop in schedule over the summer.  Kids and teens are $5 drop in accompanied by an adult with a pass or punch card.  Thursdays 10:45am-11:45am from now until September.

Kids Yoga – This program is for kids ages 6-10 years old.  It is designed with the needs of kids in mind.  Fun, light hearted and beneficial it is a great introduction to the practice of yoga.  Please register for the program in advance to avoid cancellation.  Monday August 13th, 20th, 27th at 10:45am-11:30am.  $15 for 3 classes.

And don’t forget our on going run club South Hill Striders http://distancerunwear.wordpress.com/events/run-club-southhill-striders-pronghorns/ We meet at Distance Runwear at  6:20pm or at the Memorial Park Track at 6:45pm on Tuesdays.  All levels of runners are welcome, including kids!  (They can play at the playground or join us for few laps and some fun drills.) Don’t forget, we have a team for the Diva on the Run event this fall as well as the Victoria Marathon / Half Marathon.  Don’t wait until September to start your training!
