Commit to Fit Challenges are a fun way for all of us to become more accountable for our physical fitness. Each challenge is set up to encourage a particular aspect involved in leading a fit and healthy life. They are also meant to be learning tools. You can use them to learn more about cardiovascular fitness and energy systems, range of motion, and strength training. You can use them to learn more about yourself; what are your strengths, weaknesses? You can use them as an inspiration to try new types of exercise that you might not have otherwise.
These challenges are free to join! You do not have to be a member of our studio or attend classes at Eastside Fitness. It’s a great way to connect with like minded people all over and to help spread the Eastside Fitness message far and wide helping us to achieve our vision of strong, happy, healthy communities.
Please join our Facebook Group so you can interact with others who are taking part in the challenges.
Eastside Fitness hosts 4 Commit to Fit Challenges throughout the year:
Commit to Fit Cardio Challenge begins on February 14th and runs until early spring. The goal is to achieve a minimum of 150 minutes of cardio vascular exercise per week.
Commit to Fit Push Up Party takes place during the month of May. During the month we focus on technique and benefits of proper push ups and planks. At the end of the month, we chose a single day to host a virtual Push Up Party. On this day we record how many push ups our community collectively completes.
Commit to Fit Summer Challenge occurs between June 21st and September 21st. The concept is simple: exercise a minimum of 3x per week throughout the summer. However, we all know that the summer months are the most challenging to fit in exercise. We use this as an opportunity to try new things, experience the outdoors, and to be creative while the kids are out of school, you are on vacation, you have out of town guests, the weather is hot, and there always seems to be a reason why you can’t exercise today….
Commit to Fit Mobility Challenge begins on November 11th and runs for 40 days through to the Winter Solstice on December 21st. The challenge involves preforming a Sun Salutation, at least one per day. You may also choose to do other types of mobility drills or other yoga sequences. On the final day of the challenge, we gather for a special yoga tradition which involves preforming 108 Sun Salutations on the day of the Winter Solstice.
