The Commit to Fit Challenge that started them all.
Now in it’s 5th year, this seemingly simple challenge is ready for you to enroll in once again. When we first introduced the idea back in the summer of 2013, we were trying to think of a way to motivate people to stay active during the summer. Most people scoffed saying that summer was the easiest time for them to stay fit. What people didn’t realize was that with all the hot weather, vacations, vistors, impromtu barbeques, weddings, day trips, and kids off school, it was actually more difficult to stick to an exercise regime. Sure, a hike or canoe trip is exercise but if you only do that once or twice over the course of the summer, it doesn’t account for very much physical activity in the long run.
That is why we challenge you to exercise or be active, for a minimum of three days per week over the summer: between June 21st and September 21st. We want to hear about your active adventures and we also want to hear about how you squeezed in your physical activity when all hope seemed lost! Were you doing push ups on the steps of the parliment buildings? Or on a road side pull out on your way to visit grandma in Edmonton? Did you go for a hike around the lake while your family had a picnic?
Besides the amazing health benefits of consistent physical fitness, there is something else in it for you if you enroll: The coveted Commit to Fit /Eastside Fitness t-shirt, and a chance to win a grand prize of 10 personal training sessions worth $550
