FitCamp for Teen Girls
This is our 2nd year of this successful program and spots fill up fast! Designed especially for girls ages 12-15, this 60 minute class works the whole body and includes a dynamic warm up, body weight and light resistance exercises, cardio intervals, and a relaxing stretch. Regular exercise helps build self-confidence and a healthy body image for life.
We kick off each session with a short video clip from an inspiring young woman role model. Past inspirations have been: “Supergirl”, Melissa Bishop (our Canadian 800m track talent), and most recently, “Wonder Woman” (a great movie!). What these young women have in common is that whether they are winning races, fighting aliens, or stopping wars, their spectacular demonstrations of the primary movements of the human body provide a teaching tool to help the girls understand how their bodies move and how to apply this to proper weight training technique as they get stronger and more confident at the gym.
Also worth mentioning – our chosen role models have demonstrated some fantastic examples of girl power – squat, lunge, run, jump, push, pull, rotate… and who can forget Wonder Woman’s lasso!
Our goals are simple:
- Have fun, work hard and listen to great music.
- Learn about the major muscle groups and the 5 primary movements of the human body (bend and lift, single leg, push, pull and rotational movements).
- Build strength and confidence and progress in applying these movements to basic weight training exercises including squats, lunges, push ups, pull ups, and core work.
