FitCamp for Teen Girls

Designed especially for girls ages 12-15, this 60 minute class works the whole body and includes dynamic warm up games, body weight and light resistance exercises, cardio intervals, and a relaxing stretch. Regular exercise helps build self-confidence and a healthy body image for life.

 
Last session, the girls learned about the major muscle groups – one group every week with related exercises. We kicked off with a clip from the TV series “Supergirl”. In a short scene (about 2 minutes), Supergirl discovers her powers on earth and proceeds to give a spectacular demonstration of the primary movement patterns of the human body (bend and lift, single leg + balance, push, pull and rotational movements) as she saves a huge passenger plane with engine failure. Holding up a 747 with your bare hands is quite a feat! During the class, we apply these movements to weight training exercises for full body muscular endurance. 
 
In a small and supportive group, the girls will:
  • Have fun, work hard and listen to great music.
  • Learn about the major muscle groups and the 5 primary movements of the human body.
  • Build strength and confidence while they progress in applying the primary movements to weight training exercises including squats, lunges, push ups, pull ups, and core work. As we all know, push ups and pull ups are difficult! Modifications are provided as the girls build strength and confidence that they can push and pull their own body weight.
