FitCamp for Teen Girls
April 11th – June 13th
$90 (10 sessions)
Last fall, the girls in Fit Camp for Teen Girls learned about the major muscle groups – one group every week with related exercises. We kicked off the session with a clip from the TV series “Supergirl”. In a short scene (about 2 minutes), Supergirl discovers her powers on earth and proceeds to give a spectacular demonstration of the primary movement patterns of the human body (bend and lift, single leg + balance, push, pull and rotational movements) as she saves a huge passenger plane with engine failure. Holding up a 747 with your bare hands is quite a feat! With Supergirl as inspiration, we are applying these movements to weight training for full body muscular endurance.
The last session before summer break will run April 11th – June 13th and will be 10 weeks. The goals will be to:
- Have fun hanging out at the gym and working hard.
- Learn about how each muscle group relates to the 5 primary movement patterns.
- Progress in some of the basic exercises (eg: squats, lunges, push ups, pull ups, and core strength). As we all know, push ups and pull ups are difficult! We will work on modifications as the girls build strength and confidence that they can push and pull their own body weight.
